Anton Devcich Denies T20 Contract to Become a Freelance Player

New Zealand batsman, Anton Devcich started off his Global T20 Canada campaign stunningly. The southpaw who is plying his trade for the Winnipeg Hawks. He smashed a brilliant 92 off 44 deliveries which also included with six sixes.

Devcich aims to play for New Zealand

It ensured that the Toronto Nationals chased the target of 231 down in 19.2 overs. It helped his franchise start of on a winning note. Devcich has now denied a domestic contract. He has denied indications to be a T20 freelancer and play in various leagues all around the world.

The southpaw hopes of representing the national team and is willing to improve on his skills and gain further experience from other T20 competitions.

Despite denying the contract, Devcich will be playing on the basis of per games. If reports are to be believed, Devcich is also trying to strike a deal in the Big Bash League later this year.

“My goal is to represent the Black Caps and to do that I need to improve and gain more experience in pressure situations,” Devcich was quoted as saying during a statement.

“Although I will not be contracted I am still extremely dedicated to the association, they have been very supportive of my decision and have always led the way in all aspects of cricket in NZ,” he added.

The southpaw has been part of the domestic T20 League and has also played in the Pakistan Super League and the Caribbean Premier League. Devcich represented the Lahore Qalandars and the Trinbago Knight Riders, respectively.

Mitchell McClenaghan, who has turned out to be a T20 freelancer last year. He didn’t sign the 2nd contract with Auckland 2nd team.

McClenaghan is a very active player in tournaments like IPL, BBL, CPL and in the T20 blast as well.
