Anushka Sharma Reveals They Changed Names To Keep Their Marriage Secret

Indian National Cricket Team skipper Virat Kohli married his longtime girlfriend and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma in 2017. However, it came as a surprise to many and Anushka recently revealed that they went long to keep things secret. Meanwhile, it is a tough job to keep things confidential when it comes to celebrities in India, but the duo pulled it brilliantly as only 42 people attended the wedding in Italy.

India’s most loved couple- Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli tied knots in a private ceremony in Florence (the capital city of Tuscany) Italy. Only close friends and family attended the event which took place on December 11, 2017. Soon after the event, the couple posted a pic of their wedding on their respective social media handles. Since then, they have appeared on each other’s Instagram, and Twitter handles. Anushka joined Kohli as he led the Indian team on tours of South Africa, England and Australia throughout 2018.

“Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share this wonderful news with you. This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans and well wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey,” Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli said in a joint statement to reveal the news of their marriage.

Anushka reveals wedding details

However, it was their super planning which needs to get credit for keeping such a huge secret. Speaking to a magazine recently, the actress revealed the wedding details that took place in Italy. She also added that marriage was about her and Virat Kohli’s. Anushka Sharma also said that she didn’t want it to be a big celebrity wedding and added that they lied their names from the caterers to keep things secret.

“We wanted to have a home-style wedding. There were only 42 people there, with all our friends and family present. I wanted it to be about Virat and me marrying each other, and not this big celebrity wedding. The energy at our wedding was blessed,” Anushka said to Vogue.

“We even used fake names while talking to the caterer; I think Virat’s was Rahul,” she added.

Since then, they have supported each other and Anushka Sharma has often come to the stadium to support her husband. Currently, Virat Kohli is plying his trade in the ODI series against Australia, where India lead the series 1-0. The second match of the series is on March 5 (Tuesday) at the Vidarbha Cricket Association in Nagpur.
