Thane Police summoned Bollywood actor-cum-producer Arbaaz Khan on Friday (June 31) afternoon for his alleged involvement in a betting case related to Indian Premier League (IPL).
Meanwhile, his name came forward after Police arrested bookie Sonu Jalan. He will now have to appear on Saturday (June 2) for the investigation.
Moreover, the culprit is famous for his betting across India and abroad as well. In fact, after two days of Jalan’s arrest, the Thane Police discovered a diary consisting of phone numbers of more than 100 bookies.
Broadcasting house Times Now learned that Arbaaz had lost about INR 2.8 crore whilst betting.
Later, actor Vindu Dara Singh had also met Jalan during the earlier IPL case and Prem Taneja. Police arrested Taneja for the same common link.
Interrogation has further revealed that Arbaaz was betting big. Moreover, Jalan revealed that he was asking for the money due to him, which was INR 3 crore.
However, it led to a dispute between two of them as Arbaaz was not paying the money.
Sonu also threatened Arbaaz Khan that if he doesn’t pay the amount, the former will reveal his name. He told interrogators about the two matches fixed by him with the help of his other associates.
1) Sri Lanka vs Australia (Test Match – 2016)
For this match, Sonu Malad along with Taneja, who was earlier arrested by Mumbai crime branch in IPL betting and spot-fixing case, and Junior Kolkata, a business partner of Sonu, who had visited Sri Lanka and lured the pitch curator.
This test match is known for 21 wickets in the same day. Sonu was also introduced to Vindoo Dara Singh, another accused in IPL betting and spot-fixing case, by Prem.
2) A domestic match between Pakistani veteran cricketers (2016 – Pakistan)
Sonu himself had written the script of the match and had joined hands with the owner of the team Hanif Malik, a Pakistani businessman who is based out in the United Kingdom (UK) A Bollywood celebrity who stays in Bandra introduced to the businessman.
