Arjun Tendulkar, son of Sachin Tendulkar, will not be taking part in the inaugural edition of Mumbai T20 league, a report in The Mirror suggests.

“There’s no issue with his fitness or any such thing. He wants to be perfect with his remodeled action,” a source told The Mirror.

Arjun Tendulkar

Arjun Tendulkar was in attendance before an ODI game in Mumbai. He was to be the star attraction for the league but now has been ruled out. Arjun is a regular visitor to Lord’s nets where he bowls to various teams.

During the England-South Africa Test series, one of the deliveries from Arjun sent Jonny Bairstow packing.

He was hit on his toe and straightway left the nets in pain. Before the final of 2017 Women’s World Cup as well, he bowled to Indian team on the eve of the game.

Later, Arjun played for Mumbai in various age groups and had mixed success in the tournaments he played.

In the T20 league, he was a star attraction, but the franchises will miss the charm he could have brought with his presence.

Meanwhile, the inaugural edition of the league will be played on March 11 to 21. All the matches will be played at the Wankhede Stadium.

A total of six teams will participate in the league. The players will be up for auction on March 3. Top players like Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer might also enter the auction.

However, looking at the fixtures, franchises might be reluctant to buy them.

As per the rules, a player who is eligible to play for Mumbai now or in the upcoming season is only allowed to take part in the league.

Also, a team can have a maximum of Ranji Trophy players, former or present.

Players like Jay Bista, Akhil Herwadkar, Abhishek Nayar will be in demand during the auction.

Prithvi Shaw will not be available to play a major part of the tournament, as he is the part of the Deodhar Trophy and Irani Cup.
