Of late, Arjun Tendulkar’s selection in the Under-19 squad has not surprised his bowling coach, Subroto Banerjee. Junoir Tendulkar had made the cut into the Under-19 squad on Thursday (7th June) for two four day games in Sri Lanka.
So, it would be a golden opportunity for the 18-year old to leave his mark in the Under-19 team as early as possible.
Banerjee believes that young bowling sensation has reaped rewards for his hard work. The bowling coach was given the responsibility to guide the young Tendulkar by none other than legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
Great opportunity for Arjun Tendulkar to leave his mark:
Sachin has good relation with his friend and former Indian fast bowler Subroto Mukherjee.
Meanwhile, Banerjee believes that this is just a beginning for the young fast bowler. Arjun’s coach is also not surprised by the early success of the teenager bowler in the gentleman’s game.
However, it is not going to be an easy road ahead for Arjun as he is always going to be inevitably compared with his father.
“I am very very happy for him. When he began succeeding as a fast bowler, Sachin asked me to have a look at him and I worked with me for two and half years. He was giving everything he had. I am not surprised with his selection. He gets a very good shape and the ball travels. This is just the beginning,” Banerjee told India Today.
Arjun had impressed all of us in the Cooch Behar Tournament. However, he had to pull out of the Mumbai Twenty20 league because of the back issues. Soon after, Banerjee reiterated that Arjun had back problems because of growth in his body.
Banerjee added, “He’s had back issues because of his sharp growth. He was getting taller and taller and the way bones react. But he is past it now and it’s settled”.
Arjun will play under the guidance of coach WV Raman as Rahul Dravid will be unavailable for the Sri Lankan tour. Dravid will travel with India A team on the tour of England.
Hence, the left-arm pacer Arjun Tendulkar will like to deliver the goods for the Under-19 team.
