Arnab Goswami Faces Wrath On Twitter After Calling Sachin Tendulkar Anti-National

Republic TV’s anchor Arnab Goswami has landed in hot waters after his scathing attack at legendary Sachin Tendulkar for the latter’s comment on the Indian-Pakistan clash in the World Cup. In the wake of the Pulwama attack that was carried out by Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-E-Mohammed and claimed the lives of 44 CRPF personnels, the cricketing fraternity has been divided into two halves.
While the general public as well as some eminent personalities like Sourav Ganguly and Harbhajan Singh want India to boycott Pakistan in the World Cup as a mark of protest, there are few like Sunil Gavaskar and Aakash Chopra who want otherwise. Tendulkar also opined that India should go ahead and beat Pakistan in the World Cup.
“India has always come up trumps against Pakistan in the World Cup. Time to beat them once again. Would personally hate to give them two points and help them in the tournament. Having said that, for me India always comes first, so whatever my country decides, I will back that decision with all my heart,” Sachin had tweeted.

However, Tendulkar’s statement did not go down too well with Arnab Goswami as he launched a scathing attack towards Tendulkar, who was conferred with the highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna for his contribution to the game. Goswami launched a hashtag #ShameOnAntiNationals and asked Sachin to ‘take his two points and put it in the dustbin.’
He even mocked the status of Sachin as ‘God of cricket’ among his fans and said:
“I don’t believe in any Gods. Sachin Tendulkar is 100 percent wrong. Sachin Tendulkar, if he has any sense, he should realise that he should be the first person to say that don’t play with Pakistan.”
Here is a clip of that debate:
Goswami’s comments, as expected, angered two panelists – political analyst Sudheendra Kulkarni and former AAP leader Ashutosh – as they stormed out of the show.
Kulkarni later took to Twitter to express his disgust on Goswami, writing:
“Tonight I walked out of @republic TV debate ‘cos #ArnabGoswami insinuated that people like me are anti-nationals. He insulted patriotic cricket legends like #SachinTendular & #SunilGavaskar. At a time when India needs to be united, he is practising “tukde tukde’ line.”
