Arun Pandey, longtime friend and business partner of MS Dhoni, has delivered a major update on the future of the former India captain. Speculations are rife over the future of the veteran wicketkeeper-batsmen. The debate over MS Dhoni’s future has dominated the Indian cricket circle for quite some time now.

Those speculations have only increased in recent times especially from the recently-concluded World Cup. During the World Cup, reports came out that MS Dhoni would retire at the end of India’s campaign in the tournament. However, those reports turned out to be only rumours. Later, reports suggested that Dhoni was not an automatic choice in the team anymore.

And amidst all these, Pandey has said that his friend does not have any immediate plans to bow out from the game. Pandey also rued the constant speculations over Dhoni’s future.

“He has no immediate plans to retire. The constant speculation over the future of a great player like him is unfortunate,” Pandey told PTI.

Meanwhile, Dhoni is unlikely to tour West Indies later this month. The selectors would announce the squad on Sunday and the former skipper is likely to be rested. India will plat three ODIs and as many T20Is against West Indies before playing a two-match Test series.

Dhoni scored a fighting fifty in his last international outing although it came in a heartbreaking defeat to New Zealand in the World Cup semifinal. India were reeling at 92 for 6 in the match before Dhoni and Jadeja revived India’s hopes with a 116-run stand.

Dhoni will go down in history as one of India’s greatest-ever ODI batsmen. He has represented India in 350 ODIs, 90 Tests and 98 T20 Internationals. The World Cup-winning skipper has amassed 10,773 ODI runs at an average of over 50 while in Test cricket, Dhoni accumulated 4876 runs at 38.09.
