Asela Gunaratne to miss the Nidahas Trophy following an injury

Sri Lanka will miss the service of Asela Gunratne in the upcoming Nidahas Trophy. Meanwhile, this T20I triangular tournament will mark the 70-year of Sri Lankan independence. Further, it will include host Sri Lanka along with Bangladesh and India.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka started the new year on high winning three consecutive series. However, they are still going through a transition period under their new coach Chandika Hathurusingha.

Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed the news:
The 32-year-old Gunaratne sustained an injury during the Bangladesh tour. He received a blow on his right arm during a practice a fielding drill. Further, Gunaratne took part in the triangular ODI series. However, he didn’t perform well
Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed that the status of Gunaratne’s injury is diagnosed as a “Grade II rotator cuff strain with contusion” He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the High-Performance Center of the SLC.
Since making his debut, Gunaratne has represented Sri Lanka across all the formats. He has played 6 Test matches, 29 ODIs, and 12 T20Is for the Island nation. During this short span, he has shown immense prospect and plays a pivotal role in Sri Lanka’s line-up.
Moreover, the tri-nation series will kick-start form March 6, two days before the original schedule. Sri Lanka and India will lock horns in the series opener.
