Ashes 2017/18: Stat Attack - Alastair Cook Becomes Second Player to Play 150 Consecutive Tests
Days after playing the monumental 244-run knock in the fourth Ashes Test, former England skipper Alastair Cook added yet another feather to his already illustrious cap when he came out to bat in the ongoing fifth, and final Ashes Test in Sydney.
As soon as he came out with his bat at the Sydney Cricket Ground, he became only the second player after Allan Border to play in 150 or more consecutive Tests for a team.
Cook, who made his debut way back in 2006, has so far played 152 Tests and has featured in all of England’s last 150 Tests. Border, who tops the list, represented Australia in 153 consecutive Tests before retiring with 156 games to his name. The highest-ranked Indian in the list is former Sunil Gavaskar who played 106 successive Tests.
Here is the list of top ten players who have played most consecutive Tests for a team:

Meanwhile, Cook could not make the milestone game a memorable one, as Josh Hazlewood dismissed him for 39. The 33-year old, however, has already proved his worth with the stunning double century in the last Test after being under immense pressure.
The unbeaten 244-run knock made Cook the first Englishman since Wally Hammond to score a double hundred at the MCG and it also made England’s leading run-scorer in Tests to surpass Viv Richard’s record of the highest score made by any player against Australia in Melbourne.
