Ace England fast bowler Stuart Broad believes that England will be the favorites to win the 2019 Ashes at home after losing the ‘Urn’ Down Under. The Aussies reclaimed the ‘Urn’ after winning the first three Tests in Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth and are now on the verge of winning the fifth and final Test in Sydney as well. England has been completely outplayed in all the departments of the game in the current Ashes, and they will look forward to putting this failure behind and improve in the limited overs format.

Australia have a 313 runs lead in the first innings courtesy centuries by the Shaun Marsh, Mitchell Marsh and Usman Khawaja. England bowlers have had to toil hard in the middle as they were out in the field for 193 overs and could only take seven Australian wickets. England have bowled more than 1000 overs in the five-match series. In comparison, the Aussies have bowled 700 overs.

Talking about Broad, the right arm pacer has just 11 wickets to his name in the five Tests and critics had speculated that this could be his last Ashes and he might retire before the Ashes next year in England. However, he has shrugged off any speculations about retiring by claiming that England will regain the Ashes in 2019:
“It is not a sentiment reflected in the scoreline of this Ashes series, but I think we will rightly be favorites when Australia come over to us in 2019 – and I expect us to win. I definitely aim to be part of that and after this Test is over we start building towards that goal, putting in place plans to get the Ashes back.”

Broad has also picked Steven Smith as the best batsman in the world at the moment. He said:
“There have been a lot of questions in the last two or three years over who the best player in the world is. I think that has been answered by Steve Smith.”
