Ricky Ponting lauded England’s setup to Marnus Labuschagne and said that he was impressed with the way their “outstanding” planning. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said:

“I was very impressed. Their planning looked outstanding. There was a really good set-up to Labuschagne with a leg gully and a short mid-on, making him think the ball was going to come in only for it to be an out-swinger that he was drawn into playing at.”

Ricky Ponting further went on to say that England made run-scoring hard for Australia as they weren’t unable to rotate the strike rate. He further explained:

“England have made it really hard for Australia to score, which is in stark contrast to when England were batting. Australia had lots of fielders out at deep-square, deep point and England were able to rotate strike.”

“You could argue that led to Warner’s dismissal. The scoreboard was going nowhere, the pressure built and Warner played a shot he probably wouldn’t have. England have been great.” He concluded.
