Ollie Robinson was slammed for giving an arrogant send-off to Usman Khawaja. For Australia slammed 141 runs off 321 balls and helped Australia get close to England’s first-innings total of 393 runs. He batted for four sessions and slammed his maiden ton in England.

But after Ollie Robinson dismissed him, he was pumped up and gave him an arrogant send-off. He was seen yelling “f*** off, you f***ing pr**k” directly at Khawaja. The duo then shared words with each other.

Ollie Robinson said that he didn’t realise about his send-off at that moment and only got to know about that after the game. He said that he had lost his confidence and with Usman Khawaja being a big wicket, he caught himself in the moment. Writing in his column for Wisden, he said:

“I didn’t realise the Ussie [Usman Khawaja] send-off was such a big thing until I got off the pitch to find my phone blowing up with mates texting me and it all going off. I just got caught up in the moment. I was desperate for a wicket; I hadn’t bowled that well in the first innings, I’d had that slip in my second over and lost a bit of confidence.

“And then I was trying to feel my way back in a little bit, having not played much for a while. And obviously Ussie was the big wicket, he was playing beautifully. It was nothing against Ussie, it was just one of those things, I got caught up in the moment and let myself go.”

Ashes 2023: “He was just like, “Mate, just be careful what you say,” Ollie Robinson on what Usman Khawaja said to him

Ollie Robinson further went on to reveal that he had a conversation with Usman Khawaja after that and he told him to be careful with his words. He further made a bold remark, saying that he learned his lesson. He explained:

“We’ve all seen it with Jimmy [Anderson], Broady, [Glenn] McGrath, Brett Lee. All the bowlers do it when they’re fired up and trying to get a wicket for their team. I spoke to Ussie after as well and we were all good. He was just like, “Mate, just be careful what you say.” It was nothing against him and we had a good chat. He’s a nice guy and I’ve always gotten on well with him, having played against him a few times.

“I think in those big moments I sometimes forget where I am. And there’s a thousand cameras on me! I’m not normally an explicit sort of person when I get a wicket, it’s normally just a big roar, or my eyes go a bit crazy. Anyway I’ve definitely learned my lesson!”

Coming to the match, England suffered a disappointing 2-wicket loss. Pat Cummins played an exceptional knock of unbeaten 44 runs and won the game for his side. England would be hoping for a better result in the second match. The second Test of the Ashes 2023 is slated to take place at Lord’s in London. The game is scheduled to be taken place on 28th June.
