Former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra has said that MS Dhoni is the best-ever captain in the 12-year long history of the Indian Premier League. MS Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains in the history of the Indian Premier League as he has won three IPL trophies as a captain and played in nine of the 12 finals so far. Dhoni is the most successful captain in the IPL in terms of the number of matches won throughout the tournament.

However, statistically, Rohit Sharma is the most successful captain in IPL’s history. The Mumbaikar has won four titles as a captain. He led Mumbai Indians to victory in the 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019 edition of the cash-rich tournament. His maiden IPL title came in IPL 2009 when he represented Deccan Chargers.

However, Ashish Nehra feels that MS Dhoni has by far been the best captain of the tournament and the stats support Nehra’s claims too.

Ashish Nehra, who played for Chennai Super Kings for two seasons in 2014 and 2015, picked Dhoni over Rohit and explained why.

“My pick for the greatest captain is MS Dhoni, under whose captaincy I have played the maximum, be it for the national team or in the IPL. I haven’t played under Rohit, so I choose Dhoni,” Ashish Nehra told Star Sports.

Uncertainty Looms Large Over IPL 2020 Future

With the coronavirus outbreak bringing the world to a standstill, the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was postponed from March 29 to April 15. India is currently on a 21-day lockdown to combat the deadly virus.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is now looking at the October-November window for the IPL. But the move can be possible only if the ICC decides to postpone the men’s T20 World Cup that is to be held later in the year, according to some sources in the board.

On April 10, latest reports suggested that the BCCI is probing into the July window to conduct the IPL and it could take place behind closed doors.

However, all hopes have once again vanished as the BCCI. On Thursday suspended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 indefinitely in the light of the coronavirus pandemic.
