Australia left-arm spinner Ashton Agar has been one of the underrated T20 performers for the national team in recent times. Ashton Agar was a vital part of Australia’s T20 series victories against Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and South Africa apart from being the most threatening in England. The Western Australian feels confident he has made an irrefutable case for selection in the shortest format ahead of the T20 series against India.

Ashton Agar has picked up 30 wickets in 27 T20Is with a four-wicket haul and fifer, including a hat-trick at an impressive average of 20.87 and economy rate of 6.88. The 27-year old has 13 scalps this year in six matches at an astounding average of 12.46 while maintaining an economy rate of 6.75. While Agar has showcased his brilliance in T20s, it has not been the same in ODIs.

Ashton Agar feels confident that he has done everything in T20 cricket to boost his case and could showcase his skills in the given chances. The 27-year old reveals bowling in Sheffield Shield, where the wickets were batting-friendly and having troubled the batsmen on those, puts him in good stead ahead of the white-ball series against India.

I’ve done everything I can in T20 cricket to push my case. I feel really confident in that format and feel like I showcased my skills. I think I bowled about 150 overs in three Shield games. I bowled on some wickets that were absolute highways. Trying to think batsmen out on really good wickets actually holds you in good stead going into an ODI and T20 series,” Agar stated as quoted by India Today.

The Western Australian underlined that it does not worry him that he has not played white-ball cricket much in recent times. Furthermore, Ashton Agar understands that it could be challenging for him to break into the One-day side’s playing eleven as Adam Zampa remains their first-choice spinner.

“Yeah I haven’t played white-ball cricket for a little while, but that’s nothing that worries me too much. The one-day side is a hard side to get into. Unless you’re going to pick two spinners, Adam Zampa has a run of it at the start anyway,” the left-arm spinner added.
