After two weeks of intense battle between six teams, it was India and Bangladesh who qualified for the finals of the Asia Cup 2018. In the summit clash, they made five changes and bowled first after winning the toss. However, after the opening pair of Mehidy Hasan and Liton Das post 120 runs, it was Kedar Jadhav who provided India with the maiden breakthrough.

However, speaking of Bangladesh’s run towards the finals, they huffed and puffed on their way. They began with a resounding victory against Sri Lanka and followed it up with two defeats at the hands of Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Mortaza-led team came back strongly in their next Super four game against Afghanistan winning the close encounter by three runs.

Of late, Bangladesh followed it up with a convincing victory by 37 runs against Pakistan which helped them go through to the final of Asia Cup 2018.

India finally made a comeback in the form of Mehidy Hasan wicket

Meanwhile, in the final of Asia Cup 2018, it was India skipper, Rohit Sharma who won the toss and opted to bowl first. It was a great start provided by Liton Das and Mehidy Hasan who got promoted as an opener of the team for the first time.

Liton Das who had an indifferent tournament so far looked in great touch from the outset and played some exceptional shots in the process. He looked in ominous touch and struck the Indian bowlers to all parts of the ground. It was an innings decorated with some stunning shots.

Mehidy Hasan, on the other hand, played the waiting game to perfection and rotated the strike along perfectly. He allowed Liton to play the big shots, as he took the singles to perfection. Mehidy after playing a good knock of 32 off 59 deliveries played a lousy shot off Kedar Jadhav and got dismissed pretty cheaply.

It was a short of length delivery which didn’t bounce much. Hasan made room and tried to play it over the extra cover fielder. However, it wasn’t possible, as Ambati Rayudu safely pouched him.
