It doesn’t matter what when India and Pakistan lock horns in any event, and it would be a treat for fans of either side. Meanwhile, the contest between them once again set to come to the fore in the upcoming Asia Cup 2018. However, promising Men in Green opener Fakhar Zaman sounds optimistic about Pakistan chances in the 2-19 World Cup ahead of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) competition.
The flamboyant left-handed batsman Zaman smashed a brilliant ton against India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 at The Oval in London. It was the last match that happened between India and Pakistan in any form of the game.
The team which control the nerves better will win – Fakhar Zaman
The swashbuckling top-order batsman, Zaman was rampant during the clash against India. He added the better team who control their nerves on a particular day will win the contest and carry forward the momentum.
However, Zaman sees the advantage of Pakistan better as they have got the wealth of experience of playing in the UAE. Being the adopted home for Pakistan, they are wary of the conditions at those venues. Men in Green under the leadership of Sarfraz Ahmed named a balanced 16-member squad.
“Every international match has its own pressure but the match against India is a different ball-game altogether,” said Zaman while talking to the media at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday.
“I believe the team which control nerves better will win the contest,” Zaman stated.
“We will have a slight advantage over our opposition because UAE is like a home ground to us as we have ample experience of playing cricket there,” he added to his lines during the interaction with the media.
Even without Virat Kohli, India possess stiff challenge in Asia cup 2018 – Fakhar Zaman
Further, the stylish southpaw added that the absence of Virat Kohli would not impact the Indian team. He feels that Virat Kohli is a great player but even without him, India can easily be the fierce opposition after Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) announced their 16-man squad on September 1.
“Kohli is a world-class player. But even without him, the Indian team is capable enough to mount a stiff challenge for us. Hopefully, people will get to witness a good match between the two sides,” Zaman inferred.
All in all, it would be one heck of a contest to watch out for. With the old foes, India and Pakistan going to lock horns with each other. The excitement in the fans is going to touch the sky on September 19th at Dubai. But without any appearance of batting mainstay Virat Kohli.
