Asia Cup 2018: Twitter Erupts as Shikhar Dhawan Scores a Magical Century against Pakistan
Updated - 10 Jan 2019, 12:23 AM
Team India opener Shikhar Dhawan continued his swashbuckling form to score a magnificent hundred to guide his side to consecutive victories against Pakistan in the Asia Cup.
Meanwhile, after a disappointing tour of England, Dhawan announced his arrival with a hundred against Hong Kong. However, it didn’t get much reckoning considering a weaker bowling attack. But Dhawan continued his form to provide India with good starts in the next two games against Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Although Shikhar Dhawan failed to convert those into big scores, he made it count when India needed the most. Chasing a moderate target of 238 runs, the men in blues cruised to victory by nine wickets, thanks to two centuries from Dhawan and skipper Rohit Sharma.
However, the dashing cricketer from Delhi was the aggressor of the two. He played his shots from the word go and looked in ominous touch. Furthermore, he took the attack to the opposition against the world’s best fast bowling outfit. He dominated the proceeding while Rohit Sharma was happy to play the second fiddle.
Shikhar Dhawan didn’t take much time to reach his half-century as he stormed towards his 15th ODI ton. He reached his second hundred of this series with a drive wide of the mid-off region from Shaheen Afridi. Soon after reaching his century, Dhawan, unfortunately, got run out at the score of 114 from 100 balls including 16 fours and two sixes.
Although he failed to finish the game, Rohit Sharma ensured that India makes it two in two against Pakistan in this Asia Cup. India reached the target in 39.1 overs with Rohit remaining unbeaten on 111 runs.
Here is how the Twitter reacted to the swashbuckling century of Shikhar Dhawan:

Must applaud at the way in which @SDhawan25 has lifted himself out of the disappointments in England to become India’s top runscorer in Asian Cup. Shows not willing to give up in his career easily

Excellent ODI record overall, but in tournaments involving multiple teams, Shikhar Dhawan has been jaw-droppingly sesnsational. Look at his record in World Cup, Champions Trophy and Asia Cup. #PAKvIND
