Team India opening batsman, Shikhar Dhawan entered an elite of batsmen who have been fastest to 14 ODI centuries. He became the 4th fastest batsman to 14 ODI centuries when he struck a brilliant hundred against Hong Kong in India’s opening match of the Asia Cup 2018.
Dhawan enters an elite list
The southpaw smashed 127 off 126 deliveries and was instrumental in helping India score 285 runs. However, the Hong Kong bowlers were sensational in the final ten overs restricting the Indian batters to just 48 runs.
Meanwhile, Hashim Amla of South Africa holds the record for the fastest to reach 14 ODI centuries. He achieved the feat in 84th ODI. The second on the list is suspended Australia opening batsman, David Warner. However, team India skipper, Virat Kohli achieved the feat in his 103rd match and is on the 3rd position. Shikhar Dhawan occupies the 4th position now. He has been a sensational limited-overs batsman and continued his form in the Asia Cup 2018.
The fifth on the list is the former South African legend, AB de Villiers who achieved the feat in his 131st ODI. All of these batsmen on the list are brilliant limited-overs player and can change the complexion of the game within a blink of an eye.
Two Indians on the list
Hashim Amla is one of the top batters for South Africa over the years last seven years in all formats of the game. He hasn’t been at his best of late but is one of the finest modern-day batters. David Warner is another batsman who can change the complexion of the game fast. He has a wide range of shots and can play shots all across the ground.
There is no introduction required of the modern India great, Virat Kohli. He is a legend in the 50-overs format, and his impressive record speaks volume about him. Although Dhawan isn’t rated in the same category as these players, he has evolved into a match-winner for India in the limited-overs format.
