Bangladesh has got everything on the floor to make it big in the Asia Cup 2018. They are left with one big hurdle against Pakistan to leap into the finals of the tournament. Meanwhile, the head coach, Steve Rhodes in a press meet hinted various changes for the team against the key clash on Wednesday.

Unfortunately, Bangladesh lost the services of Tamim Iqbal, who fractured his left wrist in the first game against Sri Lanka. However, it wasn’t great news for Bangladesh, as none of the youngsters stood firm for the team.

The head coach quoted they would like to get the good starts which weren’t the case so far. He added they gave a chance to a youngster who failed to make it big thus causing worries for the management once again.

However, the head coach Steve Rhodes is confident they have got enough batsmen who can open the innings for the team. Recently, Bangladesh called Imrul Kayes and Soumya Sarkar as the quick reinforcement.

“Of course we’d love to get off to good starts. Every coach would want that. It doesn’t always happen. Sadly, Tamim breaking his finger in that first game was a big blow to us. We picked Shanto to take his place and give him an opportunity as a young man who has got a lot of talent, as a lot of Bangladeshi young batsmen have,” said Steve Rhodes.

“And he’s not quite done it yet. So his place will be looked at in selection. We’ll go through the side this afternoon – Mash, myself and the selectors – and we will be looking at all the team. I won’t be revealing any plans on the side. But of course, we’ll be looking at if it is a little bit of a concern,” he added to his lines.

As Steve Rhodes said, Bangladesh needs to get the good start especially in the all-important clash against Pakistan. However, it would be interesting to see how team management takes the call on the opening slot in Asia Cup 2018.
