The squads for the much-awaited encounters between the Asia XI and World XI have almost been finalized. As confirmed by the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Nazmul Hasan Papon, there exists uncertainty over Virat Kohli’s participation in the Asia XI. As for the World XI side, the BCB is waiting for the Australian players as the slot for three to four players is still open.

Both the games between the two outfits will take place on the 21st and 22nd of March in Dhaka against the original schedule of 18th and 22nd.

Even though Kohli’s participation lacks clarity, Papon said that the squad is finalized and that the list fits perfectly.

The likes of Mohammed Shami, Shikhar Dhawan, Kuldeep Yadav, and Rishabh Pant would play both the matches while KL Rahul will only feature in one as slated to earlier. Talks are in the place of the current Indian captain’s partaking in the occasion.

“Confusion is taking place with Virat Kohli. Rahul (Lokesh Rahul) will play a match on March 22. And the rest – Shikhar Dhawan, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami and Rishabh Pant will all play both matches. KL Rahul will play one match. There was another thing, trying to play Virat Kohli. We’re still talking about this since we did not have confirmation, I cannot say for sure. Rahul will play surely. This confirmation has come.” Papon said as quoted by bdcrictime.com

Meanwhile, Papon also conceded that they are eagerly waiting for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Pakistan —to come to a close so that they can have the Australian players on board.

While the athletes from the rest of the countries are sure to play, they need men from Aussie colours too.

“I got the list perfectly. There are 11 players in the World XI right now, 3 or 4 more players will make it 15. We’re waiting for Australian players. Other countries are fairly final. PSL (Pakistan Super League) is going on, so hopefully we can finish within 1-2 days. We want cricketers to come from all countries, players from Australia as well. And that’s why we’re waiting. But 11 players have been confirmed.” he mentioned in this regard.
