Delhi Daredevils have roped in former Assam cricketer Subhadeep Ghosh as their fielding coach.

The 49-year-old has represented Assam and Railways in India’s domestic competitions and had 316 runs from 17 first-class matches. Delhi had earlier hired former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting as their head coach, with James Hopes to join in as the bowling coach.

Ghosh is currently working with the Andhra Ranji team and had served in the fielding department for Assam for two years. The management sounded extremely confident of the duo, as they look to lift the trophy in the upcoming 11th edition of the IPL.

“Once our auction strategy paid off, it was time to also appoint key personnel in the coaching staff,” Daredevils’ CEO Hemant Dua said.

Ricky (Ponting) has had great inputs in both the selection of players and the support staff. We are absolutely delighted to welcome both James (Hopes) and Subhadeep (Ghosh) into the Daredevils family.

Hopes, the former Aussie all-rounder had earlier played for Delhi in the IPL.

“For James (Hopes) it is a sort of homecoming as he has played for Delhi Daredevils earlier. Now he comes with immense experience both as a cricketer and a coach. He will be a great asset for the squad as we have some excellent young fast bowlers. Subhadeep (Ghosh) has been a specialist fielding coach for close to a decade at various levels in first-class cricket and the NCA. We are certain that he will add a lot of value to the squad,” Dua added.
