Assistant Coach Arrested For Allegedly Deceiving Cricketers In Delhi

Delhi Police has arrested an assistant coach for deceiving cricketers and taking money from them in return of giving them a chance in the Ranji Trophy. The Police tracked down the coach after receiving a complaint from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

These kind of incidents are on an all-time high as many instances have come up in recent times. The former players and ordinary people are using their position and contacts to fool young cricketers earn loads of money. The youngsters who dream of playing for India one day feel that Ranji Trophy is the stepping stone and in order to get a chance makes hefty payment and in return gets nothing. Similar kind of situation took place when an assistant head coach duped a few cricketers.

The players were taken to few matches but didn’t get any chance to play. Soon after, the cricketers lodged a complaint with BCCI who then forwarded the issue to the Delhi Police. After severe scrutiny, the Crime Branch filed a case on the assistant coach on March 5.

Based on a complaint of BCCI, Delhi police crime branch has registered an FIR against the coach under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120 B of the IPC for allegedly demanding money from players for selection in U16 and U19 matches of the Ranji Trophy. The players alleged they paid the amount but did not get selected in the team.
