We are just two sleeps away from the first Test in Adelaide. Meanwhile, former India captain, Sunil Gavaskar has predicted Virat Kohli’s men will lift the series. According to the legendary cricketer, the visitors have the potential to win the series 3-0. However, India had drawn the Test series Down-Under on three occasions in the past. Furthermore, Australia will be missing some of their key players and aren’t the strongest of the sides at the moment as well.

According to reports, there will be no change in the pitch for the opening Test match in Adelaide. The track is likely to have a grass cover and  Gavaskar feels it will help the Indian bowlers a lot. The bowling pack was impressive in England this year, and there are expectations from the likes of Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Co.

Former skipper optimistic of a good show

“If there is grass on the pitch and if Australia elects to bat first, Indian bowlers are well capable of exploiting the conditions. They (Indian batsmen) have played in South Africa and England, where they had encountered bouncy and swinging conditions. So, hopefully, the Indian batsmen will use that experience and come good in Australia this time,” Gavaskar opined.

The legendary former batter also said the hosts lack depth. He feels this is Australia’s weakest batting line-up and they will be under pressure to perform. Meanwhile, opener Usman Khawaja is coming back from an injury while Aaron Finch will have to adjust to the opening slot.

“Surely, this is Australia’s weakest batting line-up that I have seen as it lacks experience. Aaron Finch was recently batting at the fifth position for Victoria, so it will be difficult for him to adjust to opening position suddenly. The other opener Marcus Harris would be nervous playing his first Test, and then Usman Khawaja is coming back from an injury. So it will be tough for them.” he said.
