It seems like former Australian cricketers aren’t impressed with selectors backing Aaron Finch at top of the innings. After Ricky Ponting, now, it is Steve Waugh, who wants Australia to drop Aaron Finch and open with Shaun Marsh for the upcoming Sydney Test. In fact, Steve Waugh named his playing XI for Australia as well.

Marcus Harris and Shaun Marsh to open:

Steve Waugh believes that Shaun Marsh can do the job of an opener to get stability at the top order. He feels that the newbie Marcus Harris should be continued with Shaun Marsh at the other end in the opening slot.

For number 3, he went with the regular stabilised player Usman Khawaja thus making three left-handers in the top 3. Following Khawaja, it is yet another left-handed batsman Travis Head, who will be taking the number 4 batting.

Waugh made an interesting change by asking Tim Paine to promote himself at number 5. So far, Paine was one of the few batsmen, who showed some stability in the middle for Australia, even against Indian bowlers as well.

Marnus Labuschagne to be back:

Following Tim Paine, Steve Waugh drafted back Marnus Labuschagne back in the side to take the job of seeing second new ball alongside their fast bowling all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who will be playing at number 7.

However, he stuck to the bowling department, who are delivering the goods exceptionally for Australia. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood will be finishing the Eleven of Steve Waugh.

Also, here is the squad:
