Australia vs India 2018/19: Twitter Reacts As Australia Thrash India In Perth To Level Series

It was just a matter of time before Australia took the remaining wickets of India on day five and level the series. And well, India’s middle and lower-order once again failed to deliver and did not delay the inevitable for long as Australia bowled out the visitors for just 140 to win the second Test by 146 runs.

All eyes were on Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant when the two started the proceedings with the bat on day five with India reeling on 112 for 5 while chasing an improbable 287. And well, it did not take Australia long to get the first breakthrough. The two could add only 7 runs to the overnight score before Mitchell Starc ended Vihari’s stubborn knock. Pant was India’s last hope and the youngster tried to hang in for a while, adding 18 runs with Umesh Yadav before falling to Nathan Lyon.

And it Australia only 14 more deliveries to wipe out the tail. Pat Cummins dismissed Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah in the same over to fire Australia to the series-levelling win. For India, none of their batsmen could deliver with Ajinkya Rahane and Pant’s 30 being the top-score. For Australia, Starc and Lyon were the pick of the bowlers, picking up three wickets each.
The four-match series is now locked at 1-1. The series now shifts to Melbourne for the third Test, starting December 26.
Meanwhile, Twitter was quick to react to the India’s shambolic performance in Perth. Here are some reactions:

The last Test side to win toss, bat first & lose: West Indies at Hyderabad in Oct 2018
Since then in the last 13 Tests, all sides winning toss and batting first have WON!#AusvInd#AusvsInd— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) December 18, 2018
Through Kohli and Shami, India produced the best individual performances in the match, but the sum of Australia’s parts was enough for a comprehensive win. And Australia won by fighting, not by snarling.

No other side cares about IPL as much as India. They knew the auction is today so they got all out within the first hour to let the fans keep their focus on the auction. #AUSvIND

India have now lost nine Tests under the captaincy of Virat Kohli while chasing a target in the fourth innings of a Test – the joint most under any Indian captain alongside MAK Pataudi.#AUSvIND

Quality performance from Australia this week … Tim Paine is a very very good leader who deserves all the credit … India got it wrong at the start with the wrong team .. @imjadeja should have played .. Great Test Match to cover on @FoxCricket .. #AUSvIND #1-1

My player of the match is Nathan Lyon but I would look at Tim Paine too. My highlight of the game was an unforgettable century from Virat Kohli.
