Australia’s middle-order batsman Peter Handscomb was dismissed when he tried to put his foot on the accelerator in the fag end of their batting innings. The right-hander who top-scored for Australia with 61-ball 73 tried to go all the way to the off-side boundary. However, Handscomb could only find India’s opener Shikhar Dhawan in the deep who took a simple catch and celebrated it in his typical fashion.

In fact, Handscomb had got a six on the prior ball of his dismissal. Ambati Rayudu could not time his jump to perfection and got fingertips on to the ball. However, it was a difficult chance for Rayudu.

Meanwhile, Peter Handscomb looked the most impressive Australian batsman in the opening match of the series. Handscomb was able to hit the ground running and scored his runs at a run-a-ball. Furthermore, the right-hander was able to change gears in the fag end of the innings.

Thus, it was the second wicket for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Kumar who conceded 66 runs in his 10-overs quota provided a fine start to the Indian innings as he got the better of Australia’s captain Aaron Finch.

On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav scalped two wickets for the Indian team. Yadav got rid of Alex Carey and Shaun Marsh. Furthermore, Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Usman Khawaja when he was trying to play a sweep shot. Khawaja and Marsh also scored fifties for the hosts to help them post a competitive score.

Meanwhile, Australia has posted a score of 288 runs after Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to bat first. Subsequently, India will like to get off to a good start in the three-match series.
