Indian National Cricket team all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja provided an important breakthrough dismissing Usman Khawaja just when he started to look dangerous in the first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Meanwhile, Australia didn’t have a great start after opting to bat first as they lost their skipper Aaron Finch early on. The dashing opener was undone by a beautiful inswinger from Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Since then Usman Khawaja looked right on song piercing the odd gaps while his partner Alex Carey scored in boundaries. Soon when they looked dominatable, Rohit Sharma hanged on to a brilliant catch from Kuldeep Yadav to dismiss Carey.

Since then Usman Khawaja and Shaun Marsh looked confident as they marched on to a big target. Khawaja soon brought his half-century as Virat Kohli tried his options to create a breakthrough. It was then he gave the ball to experienced Ravindra Jadeja and the southpaw stood up to the occasion.

Ravindra Jadeja pitched it a bit outside the off-stump as Khawaja went for a fancy sweep shot and he ends up making no contact. It raps him on the pads and umpire Michael Gough took a long time before raising his finger. Usman Khawaja soon had a chat with his partner and he decided to review the decision. It was a flatter delivery on the stumps, Khawaja who showed a lot of patience in the innings decides finally the time has come for an attacking shot. The thinking behind the shot was good but the execution wasn’t as he made no contact with the ball.

The impact is fine and it is just clipping the leg-stump. Although Australia doesn’t lose the review but they will lose Usman Khawaja who was looking good.
