India’s former skipper and coach Anil Kumble has backed India to win the four-match Test series by 2-1. The visitors have never won a Test series on the Australian soil and it would be a perfect chance for the tourists to savour success. Australia is without the services of their talisman batsman Steven Smith and David Warner. Therefore, India is going to start as red-hot favourites.

India has shown the promise to do well in the foreign conditions. India’s pace battery had scalped all the sixty wickets on the South African tour and they also did well against England. However, the batting department which has stayed potent over the years looks doubtful. Virat Kohli was the lone warrior with the bat on the England tour.

Perfect chance for India.

Anil Kumble said while talking to Cricket Next, “India should win 2-1”.

The former legendary spinner believes it is a perfect chance for India to win a Test series against Australia in Australia. However, India will need to play to the best of their abilities.

“It is. I think whether Australia has a full playing XI or not, the potential that the current team has certainly makes this their best opportunity to win a series in Australia. They missed out in South Africa and England but this is a great opportunity to beat Australia in Australia”.

India could not win the crucial stages on the England tour as there were two tight matches which could have gone either way. Thus, they would be looking forward to turning the table on the tour Down Under.

“Yes, I think if you have to win the Test series, especially when the runs scored are very less and you’re competing against a very good side in their backyard, then it’s important to win those key moments. I think initially, at least when you look at it as a person from outside, there were a few selection issues previously as well, that’s something that India needs to get right from the first game. Of course, key moments matter in Test cricket, if you win them. But first of all, you need to identify those moments. If you can identify those moments and win them then India has a great chance”.

India has got a fine chance to win a Test series in Australia. However, for it to happen, the visitors should come up with a collective batting effort, which they didn’t do on the England tour. The first Test match will take place at Adelaide from December 6.
