Ben Stokes, the premier all-rounder from England, has clarified his recent statements on Virat Kohli, who and his wife Anushka Sharma, left their business class seats for the fast bowlers during their journey to Perth from Adelaide.
Meanwhile, India National Cricket team travelled from Adelaide to Perth for the second Test after clinching the opener by 31 runs. The bowlers did an exceptional job picking up 20 wickets to give India a 1-0 lead in the Border-Gavaskar series. Virat Kohli lauded the seamers for a great job done in Adelaide.
“I think to pick 20 wickets with four bowlers, away from home, especially with a ball that does not offer you that much is something we can be proud of,” Kohli said. “We have to build on this. We can’t be happy with just one Test match,” he added.
Not only praising the efforts of the bowlers, but he also came in relief of the pacers by giving up his business class seats during the journey. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, who is also in Australia, gave up the best seats to provide the pacers some more comfort. It was a great gesture from their part and everybody applauded it.
However, Ben Stokes, earlier, took a dig at Kohli stating that this is not the first instance of this kind. He said that current England coach Trevor Bayliss also did it once. However, this didn’t go well with the fans and they lashed at him. But, Stokes was quick to clarify his mistake and admitted that he has huge respect for Virat Kohli.
“Bit of confusion with my last tweet I think, being a bowler I have great respect for Virat doing what he did,I was simply saying our head coach did it for one of our players when we toured India in 2016,” the tweet read.
