Australia vs India 2018: Easy to Fire Blanks When You are Million Miles Away: Ravi Shastri

Indian National Cricket Team head coach Ravi Shastri was dismissive of all the flak that his side copped taking a dig at critics for firing blanks while sitting a million miles away.

Meanwhile, India went down in the Perth Test as the hosts came from behind to level the series beating India by 146 runs. The loss prompted former cricketer like Sunil Gavaskar to question the team management’s selection policies and demanding more accountability from skipper Virat Kohli and the head coach.

However, Ravi Shastri took a dig at all the critics making it evident that he has not taken it too well.

“When you are millions of miles away, it is very easy to fire blanks. Their comments are too far away and we are in the Southern hemisphere. We have to do what’s best for the team, as simple as that,” Shastri said.

When asked about selection conundrum, Ravi Shastri said the only dilemma is whether to play Ravindra Jadeja. He added that there was no mistake apart from it. He also seemed not surprised by the on-field spat between Ishant Sharma and Jadeja.

“Apart from Jadeja, I don’t think there was any other selection dilemma and if there was, it is not my problem,” Shastri replied.

“I am never surprised (by such coverage). I love coverage, bring it on, as simple as that. In many ways, it can inspire a team to come together and let us hope it does,” he added.

Virat Kohli is an absolute gentleman

Ravi Shastri also backed skipper Virat Kohli, who was at the receiving end of all the criticism following his antics at Perth. Shastri saw no wrong in Kohli’s behaviour saying that he is a gentleman.

“He was fantastic. What is wrong with his behaviour? Of course, you can question but as far as we are concerned, he is an absolute gentleman,” said Shastri.

In conclusion, Ravi Shastri seemed confident to win an overseas after failing out in South Africa and England.
