Former England skipper Michael Vaughan believes Indian team selected a wrong playing XI. The visitors went with Umesh Yadav and thus had an all-out pace attack. However, Vaughan believes the tourists should have played Ravindra Jadeja in the final XI. In fact, the Indian team hasn’t been the best in reading the conditions and playing its players accordingly.
Virat Kohli and the Indian think-tank had also messed up their selection on South Africa and England tour. They had dropped Ajinkya Rahane from the first two Test matches against South Africa.

In fact, they had dropped Bhuvneshwar Kumar from the second Test against Proteas after he was the leading wicket-taker and second highest run-scorer in the first match.
Furthermore, Kohli said they picked Umesh Yadav ahead of Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the latter has not played much red ball cricket in the recent past. However, the Indian captain defended his selection by saying that Umesh Yadav had scalped a ten-wicket haul against the Windies.
In fact, there is no doubt that either Ravindra Jadeja or Bhuvneshwar Kumar would have been more lethal than Umesh Yadav on Perth pitch.

On the other hand, Michael Vaughan gave credit to Australia’s captain Tim Paine for leading from the front. Vaughan said Paine deserves a lot of credit for turning the tides for the hosts. Paine batted with gumption in both the innings as he scored 38 and 37 runs respectively. The Australian captain also ticked the right boxes as the leader of the side.
Michael Vaughan took to Twitter to share his thoughts. Vaughan post read as, “Quality performance from Australia this week … Tim Paine is a very very good leader who deserves all the credit … India got it wrong at the start with the wrong team .. @imjadeja should have played .. Great Test Match to cover on @FoxCricket .. #AUSvIND #1-1”.
