Australia vs India 2018: Mayank Agarwal Replaces Prithvi Shaw, Twitter Reacts

It would have been the heartbreak moment for the young Prithvi Shaw to swallow the fact that he is going to be replaced by Mayank Agarwal for the remainder of the series. The youngster suffered an Ankle injury during the practice game, which saw him missing the first couple of Test matches at Adelaide and Perth respectively. Meanwhile, yet another deserving player takes his place.

Ahead of the first Test, speaking of Prithvi Shaw injury, the head coach Ravi Shastri quoted that the young right-handed batsman is recovering well. Further, he ensured that the youngster would be fit for the Boxing Day Test, however, it wasn’t the case.

“It was heartbreaking to see him (Prithvi Shaw) go down,” Shastri had told Cricket.Com.Au. But the good thing is he’s recovering quickly. And also, he’s already started walking. Hopefully, if we can get him to run a bit by the weekend, that’s really good signs. With youth on his side, there might just be a case where he might recover quicker. We’ll make a call as and when we get closer to Perth,” he had added.

However, the youngster failed to recover successfully in time. Meanwhile, it saw yet another talented batsman makes it into the Indian dugout. Mayank Agarwal received the call-up in the home Test series against Windies but haven’t got his debut cap yet.

Most Probably, it is expected that Mayank Agarwal will be drafted straight into the playing XI, as the form of KL Rahul and Murali Vijay demands team management to take a harsh call. Unless, any last chances for the current opening pair, one would see Mayank Agarwal making his debut.

Coming to Mayank Agarwal, he is in splendid form and knocking runs on a regular basis for whatever team he has represented. He registered staggering numbers in Ranji Trophy and been the regular name featuring for India A side. And also, he performed brilliantly in the recently concluded India A tour to New Zealand.

Well, it would be interesting to see how the youngster would cope up the upcoming challenge. Meanwhile, it is also intriguing to see that who is going to make a way for Mayank Agarwal between KL Rahul and Murali Vijay.
