It was a breathtaking knock from Cheteshwar Pujara. If Pujara weren’t there for team India, the headlines across the cricketing world would have displayed the mocks on Virat Kohli-led side. However, the saviour of the Indian team on day one of the Adelaide Test has received accolades, and this time, it is from England’s Michael Vaughan.

Vaughan has a name for Pujara

Meanwhile, the flamboyant batsman knocked the ball like a dream when all the other batsmen failed to put a bat on the ball. His incredible 123 helped India to put a moderate 250-run tally on the board with a wicket left in the kitty.

Furthermore, Michael Vaughan is pretty much impressed with the show by Cheteshwar Pujara. He termed Pujara one of the greats of the game and revealed his nickname that was kept by Yorkshire, as the first name of Pujara is tough to pronounce.

Digging into his tweet, it read,

“One the great guys of the game .. What an innings from Cheteshwar Pujara… Steve as the Yorkshire team calls him as they couldn’t pronounce his 1st name..”

As it happened:

Initially, it was Virat Kohli, who won the toss and asked the home side to bowl first. Team India left Hanuma Vihari in their final XI and started the innings with Murali Vijay and KL Rahul.

Meanwhile, it wasn’t a great start for the visitors, as KL Rahul continued his poor patch while Murali Vijay’s return wasn’t that pleasing. Though Pujara was rock solid at the other end, none of the Indian batsmen stood firm in the middle.

The big fish Virat Kohli got dismissed to a brilliant catch by Usman Khawaja while Ajinkya Rahane gave an easy grab for the slip cordon. Then it was Nathan Lyon, who drawn curtains on the knocks of Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant. However, Ashwin stood in the middle for a while, but Pat Cummins did the trick for Australia. Ishant Sharma quickly followed him. Now, just when the day was about to end, Pujara walked back being run out, courtesy Pat Cummins.
