India’s wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant took a fine catch to dismiss Josh Hazlewood to wrap up the Australian innings. Pant jumped to his left and took a fine catch. In fact, the Indian gloveman had fluffed a chance on Day one when he had dropped Shaun Marsh. Thus, Pant who had galloped 11 dismissals in the first match would be happy to hold on to a fine catch. In fact, Pant had a tough time as the pitch’s bounce wasn’t consistent.
Pant had also taken a good catch to dismiss Mitchell Starc. Ishant Sharma was the pick of the Indian bowlers as the most experienced seamer scalped four wickets. Meanwhile, Australia has managed to post an above par score of 326 runs in the first innings. Furthermore, the hosts were able to get the crucial wicket of Murali Vijay at the stroke of lunch.
Rishabh Pant would be delighted to grab a good catch.
The Indian opener was dismissed without troubling the scorers as his woodwork was disturbed by Mitchell Starc. It was a beautiful ball from Starc as he got the ball to move into the right-hander. Vijay is once again going through a rough patch.
Meanwhile, Indian captain adopted a peculiar strategy in the opening hour on Day two. Kohli began the attack with Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami whereas many believed Jasprit Bumrah should have been the first-choice seamer of the morning session.
On the other hand, Marcus Harris top-scored for Australia with a fine 70. Australia had a good start on an opening day as the opening partnership had posted 112 runs.
India will need to bat out of their skins to stay in this match and they would like to take a lead of at least 50 in the first innings.
