Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly talked about picking Rohit Sharma in the Test team for the tour of Australia. Rohit has done a fine job in the limited overs format. The flamboyant right-hander has been consistent in the last five years while opening the innings for India. However, the Mumbai batsman hasn’t been able to carry the same form while facing the red ball.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma had played the first two Test matches against South Africa earlier on in the year. However, he could not come up with good performances. Subsequently, the stylish opener could not find his place in the Test side for the tour of England.

On the other hand, Rohit has performed consistently in the colored jersey. He was the second highest run-getter in the Asia Cup. Furthermore, he had also led India with aplomb.
Rohit went on to score an unbeaten 152 in the first match against the Windies. In fact, this was his sixth score of 150 or more in the 50-overs format, which is the most for any batsman. Thus, Rohit has ticked all the right boxes in limited overs format.
Consequently, Sourav Ganguly believes Rohit Sharma deserves his chance in the Test team for the tour of Australia.

“He has gained confidence in his game with time. In captaincy too, he has proved his mettle. This is the time for the selectors to take Rohit along on the Australian tour for the Test series. He has matured a lot in last two years,” Sourav Ganguly said while talking to India Today.
There isn’t a lot of swing on Australian pitches, which can be friendly for Rohit Sharma. The Australian tracks provide a good bounce and it won’t be a bad idea to get someone like Rohit Sharma, who likes to hit through the line of the ball.
Rohit could not find his place for the two-match Test series against Windies. In fact, one good inning on foreign soil can change the confidence of Rohit Sharma.
