India’s limited overs deputy Rohit Sharma was able to find a place in the Test squad for the tour of Australia. Rohit has been in good form in the white ball form of the game. Subsequently, he was able to reap fruits for his good form. In fact, Rohit was the second highest run-getter in the Asia Cup. Furthermore, he had also led his team with aplomb.
The flamboyant right-hander had also scored a fine knock of unbeaten 152 in the first ODI against Windies. Thus, the Mumbai batsman has been at the top of his game.

Rohit Sharma gets back into the Test team.
However, Rohit has had his issues while facing the red ball. He was given his chance in the first two Test matches against South Africa early on in the year. Albeit, he could not deliver the goods for the team. Subsequently, he was dropped from the third Test and could not find his place in the Test team for the tour of England.
On the other hand, Rohit Sharma’s game is more suited to the Australian conditions. There is not much swing in Australia and Rohit’s strong backfoot play can be his friend.

Therefore, the stylish batsman will look to overcome his Test matches hoodoo and will look to come up roses in the Tour Down Under. Furthermore, Rohit Sharma is once again going to lead the Men in Blue in the T20I format while playing against the Windies. However, he is going to be the deputy for Virat Kohli in the T20I series against Australia.

Rohit Sharma will like to make the most of his opportunity in the red ball version. He hasn’t come up with great performances and it would a fine chance for him to prove his worth.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the inclusion of Rohit Sharma in Test team:
so we learn of dhoni's removal from T20 squad and rohit sharma's recall to Test squad after 10:30pm on friday night…good stuff!

So Rohit Sharma will play a T20 in Chennai on 11th, then a 4 day match in NZ on 16th-19th, then 3 T20s in Aus on 21, 23, 25th, then a tour match on 28th-30th. Then hope he gets picked for 1st Test in Adelaide on 6th #crazy

The message for Rohit Sharma seems clear: score runs in white ball cricket and we pick you for Tests. He has played all of two FC games outside Tests since his red-ball debut for India & has done nothing in FCC to merit a selction now since the axe in SA.

@ImRo45’s recall to Test squad not such a surprise guven his current form albeit in limited overs cricket. But this could be his last opportunity in this format

The alternative is to play 6 batsmen (cue the presence of Rohit Sharma as a possible no 6) & 4 bowlers. Might be an option given the fragility of Australia's batting but is always a dangerous ploy when none of the top 6 can provide enough overs in case of injury to a lead bowler.
