Australia vs India 2018: Twitter Reacts To India's Dominance On MCG Test
Updated - 28 Dec 2018, 01:52 PM
Well, it was quite an exciting day of cricket at MCG. Indians were pretty much on the driver seat with the bowling section delivering the goods for Virat Kohli-led side. However, the late blitz by Pat Cummins was the only moment when Australians were found with a smile on their faces.
Jasprit Bumrah rattled Australian lineup:
After starting the day with an overnight score of 8/0, Aaron Finch lost his wicket while facing India’s lanky fast bowler Ishant Sharma. Then came the majestic spell by Jasprit Bumrah, which kept Indians on top of the game.
Initially, Bumrah got rid of Marcus Harris with a bouncer trap when Ishant Sharma took a dolly at fine leg. It was followed by a beautiful Slower delivery to Shaun Marsh, who was trapped plumb in front of the wicket.
Later, he produced an incredible delivery to give a jog for wooden furniture behind Travis Head. Then, it was Australian skipper Tim Paine, who nicked Jasprit Bumrah to Rishabh Pant for being his 4th victim.
Following it up, he bundled out the Australian tail by sending Nathan Lyon and Josh Hazlewood in quick succession to register a six-wicket haul to his name on the MCG honour board. In between, Ravindra Jadeja bagged a couple of wickets while Shami picked one wicket.
Pat Cummins delivers:
Surprisingly, India hasn’t imposed follow-on to Australians despite securing a handy 292-run lead. They asked Australians to take the field to bowl at them.
Australians, who accepted the challenge sent half of the Australian batting line-up for just 44 runs on the board. Previous inning century scorer Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli walked for a duck while Rahane and Vihari registered single digit scores alongside Rohit Sharma.
Pat Cummins was the wrecker-in-chief, who picked 4 wickets while Josh Hazlewood chipped in with 1 wicket.

GOT HIM! PAT CUMMINS! The Aussie star has 4-2 and is on a hat-trick! Unreal. Rahane is caught down the leg side and has to go for 1.

Batting average in 2018 currently stands at 26.28* – the fourth lowest in a year in the post war era and the lowest in any year since 1959.
Virat Kohli the only batsman with 1000+ Test runs in 2018 (1322 runs). #AUSvIND— Deepu Narayanan (@deeputalks) December 28, 2018
What an outstanding bowling effort from India and a really special effort from Jasprit Bumrah. He has been the best bowler on display across both sides by some distance and has put India in a really dominating position #AusvInd pic.twitter.com/sP3A05b4Ti

What a day! 15 wickets, great fast bowling. Always the moving day! But you have to believe India already have enough.

Well, well, well…..Cummins might be making a declaration redundant…
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) December 28, 2018
Lead of 292. India decide to bat again. Only factor in favour of a follow-on was the forecast for rain. Maybe declare by lunch tomorrow. Even earlier if they bat quicker. Maybe bat about 50 overs for 160-170?
— Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) December 28, 2018
I understand follow-on is not in fashion but if there was one opportunity to impose, it was today. A 292 run lead, forecast of rain, a not confident Australian batting line up and the bowlers had bowled only 66 overs.

Can anyone doubt that the best bowler at the moment across all formats, White and red ball is @Jaspritbumrah93 ?? What an effort from him. If he keeps his fitness he will be the X factor for India for years.
