How many times have we seen a spinner getting his dismissal with a short-pitched delivery? India’s part-time spinner Hanuma Vihari got one to jump off from the surface to surprise the Australian opener, Marcus Harris. The left-hander could not handle the steep bounce and ended up edging the ball to first slip, Ajinkya Rahane. Thus, it was a bonus wicket for the Indian team as Vihari is playing as a part-time spinner.

Meanwhile, the new Optus Stadium bounce is inconsistent thus far. Some balls have kept low whereas some have taken off in the first two sessions of the second Test match.

India made a solid comeback in the second session after taking three wickets. Jasprit Bumrah gave the tourists their first breakthrough when he plumbed Aaron Finch in front of the wickets. Bumrah bowled a tight spell as he gave nothing away to the Australian batters.

Subsequently, Umesh Yadav was able to give India’s second wicket as sent back Usman Khawaja. The southpaw batsman has been over defensive in his approach since the beginning of the series and scored just five runs from 38 balls.

The visitors got their third wicket of the second session when Hanuma Vihari surprised Marcus Harris. The southpaw batsman was looking good as he was batting on 70. Harris was positive in his approach after getting off to a cautious start.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Virat Kohli grabbed a one-handed stunner to dismiss Peter Handscomb. Consequently, India’s pack leader Ishant Sharma got his first wicket of the innings. Meanwhile, Australia is currently batting 173-4 with Travis Head and Shaun Marsh on 14 and 19 respectively.
