India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was able to take out big fish Shaun Marsh who had shown good resistance with the bat. Bumrah got the ball to slightly move away from the southpaw to take a faint outside edge to Risabh Pant. Shaun Marsh had batted with resistance as the left-hander scored 60 runs from 166 balls. Thus, Marsh was giving a tough fight to the Indian bowlers as he had put a high price on his wicket.
Consequently, India needs another four wickets to win the first Test match. Hence, the Indian team is in a commanding position. Meanwhile, India had a perfect start to the final day when Ishant Sharma dismissed Travis Head with a snorter bouncer.
Ishant was right on the money with his bouncer and gave no chance to Head to get out of the line of the ball. Head was a crucial wicket for India as the southpaw batsman had scored 72 runs in the first essay.
Meanwhile, Pat Cummins had a reprieve when the third umpire could not find conclusive evidence of an edge. Cummins decided to go for the review after Nigel Llong gave the decision in Ravichandran Ashwin’s favour.
On the other hand, Australia needs another 146 runs to win the match. Australian skipper Tim Paine is batting on 33 whereas Pat Cummins is unbeaten on three runs.
India had set up a target of 323 runs after Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara scored crucial knocks for their team. Pujara continued his good form as he scored 71 whereas Rahane scored 70 to strike back form.
