Australia was able to put a total of 183 in the tri-series final against Pakistan. D’Arcy Short was given back his opening position after he was demoted in the last match. In fact, the southpaw opener was able to justify the decision as he scored a fine 76 off just 53 balls.

Short was ‘short’ of confidence as he struggled to get going against spin in the series. However, the combative batsman looked at peace in the all-important final. Thus, Short and Finch were able to get Australia off to a good start. The right-hand and left-hand combination put together an alliance of 95 runs for the opening stand.

Finch continued his dream form going as he scored a brisk 47 off just 27 balls. However, the Aussie middle order once again failed to make the most of the good start. Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis could not contribute much to the total.

However, Travis Head provided the finishing touches as he scored a quickfire 19 off just 11 balls.

On the other hand, Pakistan leg-spinner Shadab Khan scalped two wickets while giving away 38 runs in his four overs quota. He also took a blinder of a catch to send back Alex Carey. Meanwhile, Pakistan fielding was not up to the mark in the final.

Australia and Pakistan have both won one match against each other in the league stage. Thus, Pakistan batting will have to be at the top of their game to chase down the competitive target.
