The swashbuckling opening batsman and also the skipper in the T20I format of the game for Australia, Aaron Finch is set to replace Tim Paine, as the skipper in the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. However, it comes to know the board isn’t happy with the effort made by the wicketkeeper as the captain of the side in the limited-overs format.
However, Australia got whitewashed in the series against England this year, which kept Tim Paine’s captaincy in the radar. If the reports by The Sydney Herald are to be believed, Aaron Finch will lead the team against South Africa.
Meanwhile, it is further learnt the premium fast bowler, Mitchell Starc, and the recovered-Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood are likely to make a return to the side. In the batsman section, D’Arcy Short place looks safe alongside the all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.

Alex Carey might replace Tim Paine as Wicketkeeper:
In another story, it also looks likely Alex Carey will replace Tim Paine in the team as the wicketkeeper. Tim Paine’s poor show with his willow has been the main issue while Alex Carey is in a fine form.
The uncertainty over Mitchell Marsh continues. Meanwhile, Shaun Marsh might retain his place in ODI setup despite performing poorly against Pakistan in the two-match Test series.
”If Finchy was given the opportunity, no doubt he would be really good at the job. His performances are so vital for success in Australian cricket in one-dayers and T20s,” Alex Carey quoted as per CricketCountry.com.

”In an ideal world, the two teams aren’t too different. He can really put his stamp on the white-ball teams. If he does captain the one-day team, and he obviously is the captain of the T20 team, it’s quite a similar message all the way across the board,” he added.
However, it would be interesting to see whether Cricket Australia hands reigns to Aaron Finch or not. Meanwhile, the axe on Tim Paine might open the curtains for yet another controversy in Cricket Australia.
