South Africa Cricket team have released their star pacer Dale Steyn from the squad meaning that he will not feature in the one-off T20I series against Australia at Gold Coast.

Meanwhile, Steyn has already departed from Australia and returned to South Africa. However, there is nothing wrong with him, but Steyn is returning to take part in the Mzansi Super League and play for the Cape Town Blitz.

The Blitz takes on the Tshwane Spartans in their first match of the tournament on Friday, but Dale Steyn will not be available for that match. He is likely, however, to feature in Sunday’s clash against the Durban Heat at Kingsmead.

Steyn finished the three-match ODI series against Australia getting through 27 overs and picking up seven wickets at just 13.42 with an economy rate of 3.48In the process, he has rediscovered his best form and has thrown himself firmly into next year’s World Cup mix.

Meanwhile, South Africa dominated the Aussies to beat them 2-1 in the ODI series. Australia fought their way back in the second game after a six-wicket thumping in the first game. The hosts held nerves to win the second encounter by seven runs but once again lost the plot to lose the series 2-1. However, they will look to seek redemption in the only T20I ahead of the vital series against India across formats.

The only T20I between South Africa and Australia is on November 17 (Saturday).
