Australia vs Sri Lanka 2019: 2nd Test, Manuka Oval, Canberra – Day 2 Review; It was yet another dominating day for Australian Cricket Team at Canberra. They have tightened their grip on the match on Day 2 of the Test match. It was Kurtis Patterson, who was the star with the bat.
Initially, After starting the day on 384/4, the overnight centurion Joe Burns added just 8 runs to be dismissed out at his personal score of 180. It would have been a brilliant double century for him but unfortunately, couldn’t reach the mark.
Kurtis Patterson brings his maiden Test century:
It was the only wicket, which was bagged by Sri Lankans, as Kurtis Patterson and Tim Paine batted exceptionally well. Petterson, in particular, made the most of the opportunity to make things happen for the team. The duo remained unbeaten to add a 130-run partnership for the team.

After reaching the 534-run mark on the board, the Australian skipper, who was on 45* declared the innings to ask Islanders play their innings. It wasn’t a great start with the ball for Australia, as Karunaratne and Thirimanne played with a lot of intent.
However, the bouncer by Pat Cummins saw Dimuth Karunaratne being stretchered off the field while Thirimanne failed to tackle Nathan Lyon better. It opened the gates, as Chandimal and Kusal Mendis walked back ina quick succession.

Mitchell Starc chipped in with a wicket while Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins also shared one each. They have created chances but unfortunately, couldn’t quite turn out into dismissals.
At the end of Day 2 stumps, Sri Lanka scored 123 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Currently, Kusal Perera and Dananjaya de Silva are batting in the middle with 11 and 1 to their name respectively.
