Well, finally, the voice of Shane Warne was listened by the Cricket Australia, as they called Marcus Stoinis into the Test fold. Of late, the debates of Marcus Stoinis for the red-ball cricket has taken boost. But, unfortunately, he has always been denied to receive the call-up, as they persisted with Mitchell Marsh.

Finally, they have shown trust in the all-rounder, who is doing an exceptional job in the limited overs format of the game. Meanwhile, Matt Renshaw, the opener, has been released from the squad and will be available to play for Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League.

We made the decision to get flexibility – Trevor Hohns

Speaking of the selection, the national selector Trevor quoted that they want to have Marcus Stoinis in the side to get the required flexibility for the team. Further, he added that the upcoming venue for the Test match demands an extra-bowling option as well.

Marcus Stoinis has been brilliant in the domestic format of the game where has been a consistent performer. He also displayed his class in the ODI series against India, where he almost pulled off the victory for the team, but, dropped chances dented them.

“The National Selection Panel has made the decision to add Marcus Stoinis. He is added to the Test squad for the second match against Sri Lanka in Canberra. We made the decision to add Marcus to give us the flexibility. To play an allrounder in the event the conditions require an extra bowling option in the line- up.”

“Marcus has been a consistent performer this season. He has displayed strong all-round form in first-class cricket. And also, continued that form into the Australian ODI series against India,”said national selector Trevor Hohns.

However, it would interesting to see how Marcus Stoinis delivers in the red-ball cricket. Going by the current form, it is expected that the flamboyant cricketer might deliver the goods for the team.
