Australia vs Sri Lanka 2019: 1st Test, The Gabba, Brisbane – Match Report; Finally, Australians tasted success in a Test match with an Innings victory. The heroics of Pat Cummins and Co have helped Australians to draw the first blood of the series, which is also an unassailable lead. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has got a lot of worries to sort out.

Pat Cummins 4-for folds Sri Lanka for 144:

Getting into the details, initially, it was Sri Lanka, who won the toss and asked the home side to bowl first. Though the toss went in their favour, it was Australia, who took the honours on Day 1. Pat Cummins brilliant display of fast bowling coupled with the superb support from the rest of the bowling attack saw Sri Lanka fold out for 144. Niroshan Dickwell scored 64.

In reply, Australians started well but lost top 3 wickets in quick succession. However, Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne showed their worth in the middle-order by stitching a beautiful 168-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

However, Sri Lanka made a stunning comeback by dismissing the rest of the lineup in a quick time to bundle out Australians for 323 runs on the board. Suranga Lakmal bagged a five-wicket haul.

Travis Head scored 84 while Marnus Labuschagne scored 81 to his name. Mitchell Starc played a cameo knock in the end by scoring 26 runs in just 24 balls.

Pat Cummins adds 6 to make it 10-for:

In reply, Sri Lanka once again failed to put on a show in the middle. Australian bowling section had Sri Lankan batting for a meal, as they hardly broke a sweat. Pat Cummins was once again fantastic, who finished with 6/23 runs.

They have been rolled out for 139 runs in the second innings, which gave Australia a comfortable victory of an innings and 40 runs. Pat Cummins was adjudged as the man of the match for his brilliant show in the middle.
