Well, the injuries are part and parcel of the game. But, the timing of an injury makes a major impact on a player or on the entire team balance. The latest victim to fall under such scenario is Kusal Mendis of Sri Lanka, who is fielding at a short-leg in the warm-up game. He has been rushed back to the medical support after his pinkie finger was injured.

Kusal Mendis, who was fielding at the short-leg of Dilruwan Perera bowling. Perera bowled a full toss delivery to Doran, who smashed it straight into Kusal Mendis, who was under the helmet.

Mendis was successful in ducking, which is fundamental for a close-in fielder. But, unfortunately, the ball avoided all the cricketing gear and struck on the flush of Kusal Mendis, who got hurt on his Pinkie finger.

Immediately, he was seen yelling in pain while his teammates and medical staff rushed to him. During the course, the finger was seen pointing towards a wrong direction, which is indicating that there is some serious issue to make it straight.

If Kusal Mendis misses the 2-match Test series it would be a great concern for the Sri Lanka side, as he was their premium run-scorer in the recent past. He is in ominous form and eagerly waiting to show his class on Australian soil.

Recently, Mendis hit an unbeaten 141 in the second innings of the drawn first Test in Wellington. And also, he followed that with 67 during the Boxing Day Test to top-score in Sri Lanka’s second innings.
