Australia cricket team’s batsman Travis Head is confident that a new-look bowling attack will have the “firepower” to trouble hosts England in the upcoming One-Day International series.

Meanwhile, Australia completed their preparation with a 101-run win over Middlesex at Lord’s on Saturday (June 9). Head struck a beautiful hundred, but Australia as a unit managed to score only 283 for six.

It was the second time in two warm-up games they didn’t to reach the 300-run mark. However, it was because of their bowlers they managed to win both the games.

Australia, meanwhile, suffered a 4-1 drubbing to England earlier this year after the Ashes series. They will be keen to complete the revenge during this tour.

The tourists will have to raise their game – to beat the top-ranked ODI team at their own backyard. Head, however, didn’t look too concerned with their batting woes.

It depends, if we bowl the way we have… We’ll find that out pretty quickly, what’s a good score. The last two games have been good enough. We were under the pump at Hove but we were pretty clinical in the way we went about it here,” AFP quoted the South Australian as saying.

The 24-year-old southpaw Head opened the batting as Australia are without their regular opener, David Warner and also top-order batter Steven Smith.

Cricket Australia (CA) banned the duo in the wake of the ball-tampering incident during the South Africa tour. They are also without their pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins, who did wonders in the Ashes series Down Under.

Nasty in the Nets:

Travis Head backed pacemen Kane Richardson, Jhye Richardson, Billy Stanlake and Andrew Tye to fill the void.

Furthermore, the aggressive batsman said that if they can continue the job they did till now it will be tough to tackle them.

They are all nasty in the nets, both Richardsons, Billy, even Nes (Michael Neser) can bowl quite sharply,” he said.

Meanwhile, the first ODI starts on June 13 at the Kennington Oval in London.

“We’ve got firepower and the control on that side, mix that with AJ Tye, he’s got unbelievable skills at the back end with (left-arm spinner) Ashton Agar, who is bowling as well as he probably has in his career. If the guys can be consistent as they have been and the pace is up, it’s always a hard task to face them,” Head added.
