Of late, the game of cricket has seen quite a few players, who are exhibiting their skills on a consistent basis. One of them is Babar Azam, who has been brilliant across the formats for Pakistan. The flamboyant batsman knocked runs for the team more often than not to make things fall in place. Meanwhile, the head coach Mickey Arthur lauds the youngster and likens to Virat Kohli.

There was a criticism on Babar Azam for his failure outside the sub-continent. However, he kept all of them to rest by performing brilliantly across the globe. He is even making a solid rise in his Test graph as well by collecting centuries for his country.

It took time to show his class – Mickey Arthur

More often than not, when a cricketer is showing class in Pakistan, their fans compare him to Virat Kohli. Much to the same, the head coach of Pakistan Mickey Arthur compared Babar Azam to Virat Kohli, a couple of years ago.

However, Azam failed to live up to the expectations initially. Now, he got the knack of scoring runs and performing more often than not to make things fall in place. Speaking of the same, Mickey Arthur is happy that the batsman is finally proving him right.

“I think he will be in the top five [batsmen] of the world very soon across all formats. I thought I was a bit quick off the gun when I said two years ago that he would be almost as good as Virat Kohli but it has taken him a while to show that class. But if you watched him in the nets couple of years ago, he was a young boy who has developed into a young man, he’s got stronger and fitter and his game get better and better all the time,” Arthur was quoted as saying by Express Tribune.

“I have never doubted Babar Azam, he keeps on getting better and better and the exciting thing for us is that we haven’t seen the best of Azam yet. He has been unbelievable on this tour. There have been questioning marks around Azam outside the sub-continent but I think he’s put those to rest now,” the coach added.

Well, as Mickey Arthur said, Babar Azam has become a great asset for Pakistan Cricket Team, across the formats. He is showing his class against South Africa in the shorter format but unfortunately, failing to guide his side to the victory.
