Despite playing in the home conditions, it was Sri Lanka, who came out on top in the recently-concluded games in the shortest format of the game. On both occasions, Sri Lanka managed to win the game convincingly by bundling out Pakistan. Meanwhile, the head coach Misbah-Ul-Haq feels the lack of form from Babar Azam exposed Pakistan’s struggles with the bat.

Pakistan head coach Misbah-ul-Haq was left dejected after Pakistan suffered second consecutive defeat against Sri Lanka on Monday as he admitted the hosts have been left exposed after Babar Azam’s rare failures with the bat. A second-string Sri Lanka thrashed Pakistan by 35 runs in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore to take an unassailable 2-0 lead.

Pakistan’s head coach Misbah-ul-Haq has urged the critics to show some patience with changes and experiments being done as it takes some time to yield results. The former Pakistan skipper, who is also the chief selector also said that it is his duty to support the under-pressure current captain Sarfaraz Ahmed.

It is an eye-opener for Pakistan – Misbah-ul-Haq

Pakistan were bowled out for the second match in a row on Monday, in the second T20I at Lahore, with Sri Lanka’s second-string squad notching up a 35-run win to clinch the three-match series. It was the third series defeat in a row for the No1 ranked Pakistan and the first under the tenure of Misbah who is performing the dual role.

“We became number 1 in the T20I rankings but if you dig deeper, what has been our strength mostly – it’s been due to Babar Azam’s runs and he didn’t score in two games and we’ve been exposed, Misbah-ul-Haq told to the reporters.

“This is a good eye-opener for us. We have deficiencies in every department, in bowling, batting, especially the way we got out in both matches. We have deficiencies against playing spin, death bowling and we have to work a lot on these things,” he added.

Pakistan were outclassed in the first T20 suffering a record heavy defeat by 64 runs as they were bowled out for 101 runs in 17.4 overs. Following the second T20I loss, the team would like to show their calibre in the final game to bounce back.
