The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed their regret over the team’s behaviour in the last match against Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by two wickets to face India in the final of Nidahas Trophy.

The last match descended into chaos following an umpire’s decision. The drama unfolded in the last over when Mustafizur Rahman got out. Post the dismissal, a couple of Bangladesh substitutes got into a verbal fight with Thisara Perera. Apparently, the square leg umpire stretched his arm to signal a no-ball, but eventually, they deemed it as a legal delivery once Mustafizur got run out.

This raised temperatures in the Bangladesh dressing room and thus, Shakib fumed at the umpires before asking his batsmen to walk back to the dressing room.

The International Cricket Council on Saturday fined both Shakib and Nurul 25 percent of their match incomes. They also handed them one demerit point each for their part in the brawl.

BCB regrets the behaviour:

BCB issued a statement underlying the behaviour of Bangladesh cricketers stating that it was unacceptable.

The Board accepts that conduct of the Bangladesh Team in certain instances was unacceptable on a cricket field,” BCB said in a statement.

We understand that the events may have transpired due to the importance of the match and the pressure that comes with it but feel that the expected level of professionalism was not exhibited by the team while dealing with a tense situation. The Bangladesh Team members have been reminded of their responsibility in upholding the spirit of cricket at all times,” it added.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh will face India in the final later today at Colombo.
